Undergraduate Research Opportunity in Plant Ecology

The Venable lab is looking for 1-2 students interested in gaining research
experience, with the possibility of pursuing independent research projects.
Gain experience in both field and lab experiments while learning about local
Sonoran Desert winter annual plants. In particular, projects will be
focused on understanding how these plants respond to conditions associated
with global climate change, namely warmer and drier weather.

Positions will begin in August and continue until spring. Duties will
include both lab and field components. Willingness to learn and excitement
about research required, as well as careful attention to detail and ability
to work independently. Familiarity with ecological principles, plant
biology, and basic statistics preferred, but not required. Students will
receive research credit for work in the lab, as well as mentoring from a
postdoc (Jennifer Gremer) and faculty member (Larry Venable). We will also
encourage students to present results at the EEB Undergrad Research Poster
Session.

To apply please submit a cover letter stating your interests in the
position, a resume that includes relevant coursework, and contact
information for 1-2 references. Inquiries should be directed to Jennifer
Gremer. Email: jgremer at email.arizona.edu; Phone: 520-621-4022; Lab: BSW
501.
