This is a note that went out to Forbes residents. I apologize if this is redundant but I want to make sure these notices get sent to all students who work or have office space in Forbes.

Subject: [forbes] Reopen Update 9 July 2020

While some decisions and procedures/policies are still in development related to the potential campus reopen, I have some updates:

-RESTROOMS: We now have hands-free paper towel dispensers in all Forbes restrooms. Restroom occupancy protocols and possible modification of facilities are still being developed, though high costs of the latter might be a prohibiting factor in campus-wide renovations.

-ELEVATOR: The elevator in Forbes has a sign on the inside stating "1-person occupancy", so please adhere to this policy.

-UA CLOTH MASKS: The 2 cloth masks that will be available to all faculty/staff/students will probably not be delivered to campus until end of July/beginning of August. They will most likely be distributed via the UA bookstore. Dispersal of masks might be that each person obtains them from the bookstore by showing your Cat Card, or the building manager (=me) will pick them up then distribute in Forbes.

-PPE ORDERS: orders that I placed for Forbes offices are still being processed and probably won't be delivered until near the end of July/beginning of August.

-PLEXI SHIELDS & SIGNAGE: Two weeks ago I conducted a walk-thru of Forbes with our building's liaison for Facilities Management with regards to building signage and plexi shields. These items are all still being worked on by FM.
Don't expect all building signage and plexi shields to be complete in Forbes until end of July/beginning of August.

-HAND SANITIZER STATIONS: The hand sanitizer stations that will be installed at building entrances and classrooms are on back-order with the manufacturer, so we will be using hand-pump bottles in lieu of the sanitizing stations until they are installed.

-CLASSROOMS: No final decisions on classroom occupancy (currently 50%) or how the rooms will be cleaned between classes beyond once-per-day by custodial.

- FURNITURE: If we need to move furniture in Forbes to create more social distancing then it will be need to be stored somewhere within the Forbes Building. Additionally, we cannot store furniture in the hallways due to fire code safety regulations, it's a hazard, plus it will encourage people to use the furniture in the hallways, defeating the purpose of social distancing.

-AIRFLOW: FM is still looking into airflow and how this potentially plays a role in covid spread within a building. They are working with different air filters for the air-handling systems as one modification.

-UA REPORTING PROCESS FOR COVID: The UA is finalizing plans for reporting covid cases on campus, the final draft is under review and will then be distributed. I will make sure the finalized copy is made available to building occupants so we're all on the same page about procedures and protocols. UA has had 50+ confirmed cases of covid thus far, and campus is averaging ~5 potential cases reported each day.

-FORBES BUILDING ACCESS: The current plan is for the exterior doors to remain locked until the first week of August (always subject to change).

I'll send out more pertinent updates as they become available. Enjoy the rest of your week, stay cool, safe and healthy.

Cheers,
Gene
