[cid:image002.jpg at 01D5D675.D74DB750]<https://techlaunch.arizona.edu/student-innovation-challenge-2020>Tech Launch Arizona has launched its first Student Innovation Challenge! Through the Challenge, our goal is to engage students in the 4th Industrial Revolution, designing solutions to challenges they encounter in their daily lives.

The Challenge is an idea-stage competition designed to encourage UArizona students – both undergraduate and graduate – to propose and develop solutions to real-world problems. The program offers students the opportunity to take novel ideas to the next level where they can create real-world impact.

Details and the downloadable application are at https://techlaunch.arizona.edu/student-innovation-challenge-2020.

Applications are now being accepted. Deadline to apply: February 28.

Working individually or in teams, students identify a problem and develop a range of solutions from hardware prototypes to software or mobile applications. Students will then propose both the perceived challenge and the potential solution to address the unmet needs in any variety of sectors including global health, mechanical and electrical engineering, optical sciences, water, energy, agriculture and more.

TLA will award a total of up to $50,000 in funding for projects with the most promising ideas. Awards per project will be based on the funding requests and the discretion of TLA to maximize the number of ideas or projects funded.

Following completion of the project, all stakeholders meet to discuss outcomes, ensure a thorough understanding of the commercialization factors and, if appropriate, identify next steps, including additional resources to prepare the technology for commercialization. For promising outcomes, TLA will continue to work with the team to advance the technology for licensing to an existing company or as the basis for a startup.

All details, including instructions for applying, a downloadable application, and information about eligibility are at https://techlaunch.arizona.edu/student-innovation-challenge-2020.
