A Plant Behavior Course for Spring 2020!
ECOL 467/567
Offered this spring on Thursdays, 4-5:50pm in Biosciences West, Rm. 302
Drs. Dan Papaj, Larry Venable and Judith Becerra are offering a 2-credit seminar course in Plant Behavior in Spring 2020. The course will be open to graduate and undergraduate students (undergraduates by permission of instructor).
You will find the course listed in the Schedule of Classes as “ECOL 467/567 Pollination Ecology” (for purely historical logistical reasons!). While there will be limited subject matter related to pollination ecology, the primary focus of the course this year will be Plant Behavior, and specifically Plant Behavioral Ecology.
Plant behavior is a subject that has recently gained a large audience and generated a significant body of research. Sample subtopics include plant-plant communication, root foraging ecology, plant learning (intelligence), plant behavioral responses to pollinators and herbivores, and sexual selection in plants.
Course format will include instructor lectures, discussion of research articles, and presentations by students.
For further information, email Dan Papaj (papaj at email.arizona.edu), Larry Venable (venable at email.arizona.edu), or Judith Becerra (jxb at email.arizona.edu).
