The UA/NASA Space Grant Steering Committee is soliciting applications for AY19-20 Space Grant Graduate Outreach Fellowships

We appreciate your help in distributing this email to those that may be interested in applying.

We seek new and continuing UA graduate STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) students with interests in any aspect of NASA's mission (including elements as diverse as Space and Earth Sciences/Engineering, Science Policy, and Science Education) and in promoting the understanding of scientific research to the public. The fellowship, co-sponsored by UA/NASA Space Grant and the applicant's nominating Department/College, includes a stipend of $16,000 for one or two years, both in- and out-of-state fee/tuition waivers, student health insurance (if needed), and $750/year for travel to professional meetings. Though award totals vary based on individual circumstances (whether the student requires/utilizes the out-of-state tuition waiver, numbers of enrolled class units, etc.), 2018-19 fellowships range in value from $29,868-$46,850.

Applications--including a transcript, two letters of recommendation, letters of support (optional) from those cooperating in the education outreach effort, and the Department Head's signature committing to the departmental cost share--are due in the Space Grant Office (Room 349, Kuiper Space Sciences Building) by Friday, March 22, 2019. We will announce awards for Fall 2019 on or around April 19, 2019.

You may learn more at an information session on Thursday, March 14th from 3:30-5:00pm in Kuiper Space Sciences, room 309, where current Fellows will be presenting their AY18-19 Space Grant educational outreach programs, answering questions, and discussing their experiences. If you plan to propose to the program, attending the session is highly recommended.

The application form and more detailed information on eligibility and fellowship requirements may be found at: https://spacegrant.arizona.edu/students/fellowships. Please note, per the terms of our grant, to apply you must be a U.S. Citizen.
