Grad Orientation



Graduate Orientation is just around the corner! Our new Events Director, Patrice, is working hard to make this a great event and we need your help in recruiting returning students to make packets as well as the day of work. If there are a lot of volunteers, none will have to be there very long individually. Look on Facebook and share the information on department/college pages that are applicable via social media. Otherwise, refer to the following information, provided by Patrice, to share elsewhere.

The Graduate and Professional Student Council (GPSC) and the Graduate College is looking for volunteers. GPSC will provide a free t-shirt to volunteers as well as lunch.



We will be packing the 700 orientation folders Friday, August 11th, from 9am-noon, in the ASUA office. Even if you can only volunteer just 1 hour would be of great help. Coffee and donuts will be provided.



We are additionally looking for volunteers who can help at the Graduate Orientation 2017 Wednesday, August 16th located in the Student Union South Ballroom.

We will be needing volunteers for the following times on 8/16:

7:30am-9:00am (this is the check in period where we need the most help)

8:30am-12:00pm (room monitors)

10:30pm-12:00pm (Information Fair setup)

If you are willing and available to volunteer, please reply to gpscevents at email.arizona.edu<mailto:gpscevents at email.arizona.edu>, with your name, email address, cell phone number, and the time shift(s) you would like to volunteer.



Graduate Orientation 2017: Call for Registration



The Graduate and Professional Student Council is hosting its 24th Graduate Orientation with the Graduate College and request incoming graduate and professional students to register to attend this free, fun and informational event. Graduate Orientation 2017 will take place on Wednesday, August 16th, from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the Student Union Grand Ballroom and registration to attend is REQUIRED.



WHEN: Wednesday, August 16th from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm.

WHERE: Check-in from 8:00-8:45 will be in the North Ballroom, Located in the Student Union Memorial Center

WHY: Learn about the different opportunities, services and events that are offered at the UA, as well as meet hundreds of other incoming graduate and professional students. There will be free lunches and an information fair.

HOW: Register by Wednesday, August 13th at http://gpsc.arizona.edu/graduate-orientation

WHO: Any incoming graduate and professional students.



The GPSC’s Graduate Orientation will help you make the transition to our university as well as to graduate school. I strongly encourage you to attend the GPSC Graduate Orientation in addition to the ones at various schools and colleges. Our information session will include: financial aid and external funding resources, mentoring opportunities, how to cope with stress, library resources, campus health services and student health insurance, time management, and career services for graduate students. On top of campus resources, we will also be able to provide information about living in Tucson and ways to get involved with your university community among many other things. Free lunch a vendor fair featuring local businesses and U of A organizations will wrap up the day.



I sincerely hope that you will register for the GPSC Graduate Orientation so that we have a chance to meet. Once again, I would like to welcome you to The University of Arizona.
