Texas State University
proudly announces the

2017 Caminos Thesis in Food and Agriculture Sciences Competition

The American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education, Inc. (AAHHE) in partnership with Texas State University is pleased to announce the Caminos Thesis Competition in Food and Agricultural Sciences.
This competition is made possible thanks to a grant provided by The United Stated Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA).
This competition is open to any Hispanic who has completed a thesis that focuses on Food and the Agricultural Sciences, between December 1, 2014 and December 30, 2016.  Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Permanent Resident.  Thesis are eligible if they are in topics related to the USDA priority areas, including Food Safety, Climate Change, Sustainable Energy, Childhood Obesity, and Global Food Security and Hunger.
The winners (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place) will be invited and sponsored to attend the 12th Annual AAHHE National Conference (March 11, 2017) in Irvine, California to present their theses and receive their award, as well as participate in a Career Preparation Institute<http://aahhe.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=ed13d19bbca6fac1d85a69cd7&id=18c47c9904&e=769a122f56>.<http://aahhe.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=ed13d19bbca6fac1d85a69cd7&id=c75e65e1b6&e=769a122f56>  Winners will receive a cash award in the following amounts; 1st place $1,500, second place $1,000, and third place $500. Conference registration costs and travel expenses within the continental United States, to include hotel room will also be paid for the participants.
The grant Principal Investigator is Dr. T. Jaime Chahin, Professor and Dean of the College of Applied Arts, Texas State University.
