Position: Lecturer in Nursery/Landscape Horticulture Position Description: The Department of Horticultural Sciences seeks applicants for a non-tenure tracked, teaching position with expertise in nursery/landscape horticulture. The successful applicant will teach undergraduate level courses in plant propagation, nursery management, and garden science or other courses as deemed appropriate and coordinate labs associated with their assigned courses as needed. Major Duties and Responsibilities: The successful applicant will be responsible for the organization, delivery, evaluation, and student grading associated with his or her assigned courses and must: 

• Deliver high-quality lectures on course subject matter. 

• Develop attractive visual aids and other course materials to supplement lectures. 

• Write a comprehensive syllabus for the assigned course that adheres to the syllabus guidelines posted on the curricular services Website and post it in the Howdy portal before the first day of class.

 • Upload current curriculum vitae into the Howdy portal.

 • Prepare quizzes, tests, exams and other evaluative materials needed to assess student progress toward the learning outcomes established for the class. 

• If the course has an associated lab, coordinate all lab sessions including the acquisition of all materials needed for conducting the lab. Insure that students have mandated safety training as needed.

 • Assist in advising undergraduate student organizations or clubs as required. 

• Perform other duties as may be assigned by the department head. Qualifications: A minimum of a Masters degree in horticulture or closely related plant science is required. Experience of having served as a teaching assistant or instructor in horticulture at the college level is highly desirable. 

Additional qualifications include evidence of successfully coordinating educational programs, classes, and projects; evidence of successfully planning, implementing, and evaluating educational classes, events, workshops, short courses, and other activities; evidence of producing high-quality educational curriculum and materials; and, evidence of successful use of the Internet to deliver educational programs and materials. Candidates with experience in the nursery, landscape, greenhouse or related green industries are preferred.
