GradSense – Financial Information for Graduate Students
The Council of Graduate Schools announces a new financial tool for grad students. GradSense is a unique online education platform that provides students with important financial information about the value of pursuing an advanced degree. The website is based on data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the National Science Foundation and the National Center for Education Statistics. Along with median debt and income data, the GradSense website also provides students with loan repayment advice, spending tips, and career guidance.

UA/NASA Space Grant Program Information Session (March 14)
The UA/NASA Space Grant Program seeks new and continuing UA graduate students interested in promoting the understanding of scientific research to the public whose program of study addresses any aspect of NASA's mission (including elements as diverse as Space and Earth Sciences/Engineering, Science Policy, and Science Education). Japanese Association of University Women (JAUW) International Fellowship Program
The Japanese Association of University Women (JAUW) announces the availability of fellowships for women who are carrying out or would like to carry out independent research or advanced study at the postgraduate level in Japan. Applicants must have received a Master’s degree or its equivalent and/or be in the pre-doctoral or dissertation level of a PhD program. Applicants must have an acceptance letter from a host institution in Japan.

Lend for America Summer Fellowships in Microfinance
Fellowship involves weeks learning from hard working Americans and microfinance practitioners about the opportunities for microfinance to transform business owners and communities by reviewing loan applications, opening savings accounts, and coaching clients. All travel expenses are paid and fellows receive a $2,500 stipend. Fellows then return to campus to launch a campus MFI.

Society for the History of Technology Kranzberg Dissertation Fellowship
The Melvin Kranzberg Dissertation Fellowship is presented annually to a doctoral student engaged in the preparation of a dissertation on the history of technology, broadly defined. The $4,000 award is unrestricted and may be used in any way that the winner chooses to advance the research and writing of his or her dissertation. Possible uses include underwriting the costs of travel to archival collections; photocopying or microfilming; translation of documents; and so on. The award may not be used for university tuition or fees.

UA/NASA Space Grant Program
The UA/NASA Space Grant Program and nominating departments provide graduate fellowships to exceptional graduate students interested in promoting the understanding of space-related research to the public and who are studying in space sciences/engineering, public policy, earth sciences, science education, and global change-related fields. The fellowship, co-sponsored by UA/NASA Space Grant and the applicant's nominating Department, includes a stipend of $16,000 for one or two years, both in- and out-of-state fee/tuition waivers, student health insurance, and $750/year for travel to professional meetings. A candidate must be a graduate student at The University of Arizona pursuing degrees in Planetary Sciences, Astronomy, Physics, Earth Sciences and Global Change-related fields (Atmospheric Sciences, Geosciences, Hydrology and Water Resources, Geography, Ecology and others) Evolutionary Biology, Mathematics, Remote Sensing and Spatial Analysis, and in space-related fields in any college or fields that use space-related science and tools (e.g. Public Policy, the Social Sciences, Science Education, etc.).

Funding Opportunities in the Humanities/Arts/Social Sciences
American Indian Studies Dissertation Writing Fellowship Yale University
The Fellowship will support a graduate scholar in any doctoral field for the academic year, beginning August 1, 2014 and ending July 31, 2015. Graduate students working towards careers in higher education who have completed all doctoral requirements but the dissertation are invited to apply. The expectation is that the dissertation will be completed during the fellowship year. The criteria for selection will be based solely on an assessment of the quality of the candidate’s work and the project’s overall significance for the study of American Indian and Indigenous Studies. The Roe Cloud Fellowship will provide support comparable to that for Yale University graduate students, including an annual stipend of $27,300, full access to Yale facilities and services, and individual health care coverage. The fellow will work in close affiliation with the Ethnicity, Race, and Migration Postdoctoral Program and have access to Yale’s exceptional research libraries.

Arthur and Elizabeth Schlesinger Library on the History of Women in America Dissertation Grants – Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study
The Arthur and Elizabeth Schlesinger Library on the History of Women in America invites scholars whose dissertation research requires use of the library's collections to apply for research support.
Applications will be evaluated on the significance of the research and the project's potential contribution to the advancement of knowledge as well as its creativity in drawing on the library's holdings. Grants of up to $3,000 will be given on a competitive basis.

Lilly Library Fellowships - Indiana University at Bloomington
The Lilly Library invites applications for visiting fellowships for research in residence in its collections. The Lilly Library is the principal rare book and manuscript library of Indiana University. Its holdings support research in British, French, and American literature and history; the literature of voyages and exploration, specifically the European expansion in the Americas; early printing, and the Church, children's literature, music; film, radio and television; medicine, science, and architecture; and food and drink. The Everett Helm Visiting Fellowship program supports research and provides access to the collections of the Lilly Library for scholars residing outside the Bloomington area. The Mendel Fellowships are intended to support research by scholars from around the world in areas of particular interest to the Mendels, including: the history of the Spanish Colonial Empire; Latin American independence movements; European expansion in the Americas; voyages, travels and exploration; geography, navigation and cartography; German literature and history; and music, including sheet music.

Monique Wittig Writer’s Scholarship (UA only)
This scholarship honors the life and work of Monique Wittig, French novelist, poet and social theorist. Wittig was a professor at the University of Arizona, Tucson from 1990 to 2003. First published as a novelist, Monique Wittig’s fiction revolutionized French literature. Mary McCarthy called her “the best writer anywhere of her generation.” Wittig’s fiction, as well as theoretical writing, has had a fundamental and worldwide impact upon feminist theory and lesbian and gay theory. This scholarship is open to writers in all fields including literature, film, theater, poetry, essays and new/mixed media.

New York Public Library Short Term Fellowships
The New York Public Library is pleased to offer Short-Term Research Fellowships to support visiting scholars from outside the New York metropolitan area engaged in graduate-level, post-doctoral, and independent research. Fellowship stipends are $1,000 per week for up to four weeks and fellows must be in residence at the Library for a minimum of two weeks between July 1, 2014 and June 30, 2015. Individuals needing to conduct on-site research in the Library’s special collections to support projects in the humanities including but not limited to art history, cultural studies, history, literature, performing arts and photography are welcome to apply.

American Floral Endowment (AFE) Scholarships
Most AFE scholarships are for undergraduates, but there are a few that are open to graduate students. The application process is fairly simple. See website for more opportunities.
James K. Rathmell, Jr Memorial Scholarships for Horticulture Work/Study Abroad
Jim Rathmell was a horticulture extension specialist at Penn. State University who promoted communication and cooperation with horticulturists in other countries. A widely published author, he worked with commercial growers to implement many outstanding educational programs. The Rathmell scholarship is awarded to junior or senior level undergraduates or graduate students who have a specific plan for horticulture work/study outside of the United States.
John Carew Memorial Scholarship
John Carew, former head of the Department of Horticulture at Michigan State University, dedicated his career to encouraging and guiding young horticulturists. He was instrumental in establishing BPI in 1969. The Carew scholarship is open to graduate students in horticulture, with an interest in greenhouse crops.
Seed Companies Scholarship
Seed companies - Ball, Pan-American, Goldsmith, and Novartis are leaders in the seed production and breeding industry, providing new, improved varieties. These seed companies co-operatively sponsor this scholarship. The Seed companies scholarship requires students to have a career goal within the seed industry and be junior or senior level undergraduates or graduate students.

American Geological Society (AGS) Fall Semester Internship in Public Policy
AGI seeks outstanding geoscience students with a strong interest in federal science policy for a semester-long internship in geoscience and public policy in the Government Affairs Program. Representing the geoscience community in Washington, DC, the program actively works with Congress and federal agencies to foster sound public policy in areas that affect geoscientists, including water, energy, and mineral resources; geologic hazards; environmental protection; and federal funding for geoscience research and education. Interns will gain a first-hand understanding of the legislative process and the operation of executive branch agencies.

Gerald O. Mott Scholarship for Meritorious Graduate Students in Crop Science
The Gerald O. Mott Scholarship is provided to a meritorious graduate student in crop science. The scholarship is supported by gifts from the Gerald O. Mott family to the Agronomic Science Foundation (ASA) and administered by the Crop Science Society of America(CSSA). In 2014, CSSA will award either four scholarships at $2500 each, or two scholarships at $5000 each. Nominees will have completed at least one year of graduate work leading to a M.S. or Ph.D. degree in a field of emphasis within any of the CSSA divisions. Nominees are required to be CSSA or ASA members.

Gilder Lehrman Center Postdoctoral Fellowships for the study of Slavery, Resistance, and Abolition
The Gilder Lehrman Center for the Study of Slavery, Resistance, and Abolition at Yale University invites applications for its 2014-2015 Fellowship Program. The Center seeks to promote a better understanding of all aspects of the institution of slavery from the earliest times to the present. We especially welcome proposals that will utilize the special collections of the Yale University Libraries or other research collections of the New England area, and explicitly engage issues of slavery, resistance, abolition, and their legacies. Scholars from all disciplines are encouraged to apply. One and four month fellowships are available.

NASA Nancy Grace Roman Technology Fellowship in Astrophysics
The goals of the Nancy Grace Roman Technology Fellowship in Astrophysics program are to give early career researchers the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to lead astrophysics flight instruments/projects and become principal investigators (PIs) of future astrophysics missions; to develop innovative technologies that have the potential to enable major scientific breakthroughs; and to foster new talent by putting early-career instrument builders on a trajectory towards long-term positions. National Endowment for the Humanities Postdoctoral Fellowships
The National Endowment for the Humanities, a federal agency in Washington, D.C., administers a fellowships program that provides financial support for individuals who wish to pursue scholarly research projects in the humanities. Projects should involve advanced research that is of value to scholars, general audiences, or both. The awards support six to twelve months of full-time work and carry a stipend of $4,200 per month. Recipients usually produce articles, monographs, books, digital materials, archaeological site reports, translations, editions, or other scholarly resources in the humanities.

Obesity Society Early Career Research Grants
This program (formerly, New Investigator Research Grants) is offered by The Obesity Society (TOS), as a member service, to foster and stimulate new research ideas in any area of investigation related to obesity. The program targets junior-level investigators and post-doctoral trainees by funding proposals that demonstrate a high likelihood of resulting in new and innovative approaches in obesity research. Early-career investigators are defined as individuals who have received a PhD within the past five years or MD within the past eight years and who currently hold full-time, entry-level positions (e.g., post-doctoral fellow, instructor, assistant professor) at an established academic/research institution. Applicants may request up to $25,000.

Sophie Davis Postdoctoral Fellowship in Gender, Conflict Resolution, and Peace
Sponsored by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Leonard Davis Institute for International Relations. The fellow will be eligible to have office space and full access to the Hebrew University's libraries, and the Institute's facilities.
