Subject: Diploma Address - Useful Information for Students

This email refers to how the University defaults to where diplomas are mailed.  Some of you might already know of this, but I just wanted to take a moment and share with you.  I have discovered in the past few months that many students have found this information helpful.

When the University mails a students’ diploma - here is how it is done (which can seem a little counter-intuitive to some students)

If there is no *Diploma address on file - a students’ diploma will be sent to the PERMANENT address that is on file for them in UAccess.  Many students have a permanent address as well as a mailing address that differ from each other.  Usually, students with different permanent and mailing address assume that their diploma will go to their mailing address.

Unless the permanent address and mailing address are the same, it will NOT go to their mailing address.  I have had a few disappointed students this year, as their diplomas were sent internationally to their permanent address, when they wanted them sent to their local mailing address. :(  These things can often be corrected (contact me if you want more info on the details of that) but sometimes the students opt to purchase another copy of diploma, which costs $50.

The good news is that in addition to a permanent address and a mailing address, a student can also set up a *Diploma address - the *Diploma address will not affect either their permanent or mailing address in UAccess and will only apply to where the University sends their diploma.  Many students do not realize this, so I like to let them know when possible if  I see they are about to graduate and have two separate addresses.

*Diploma address*   I have attached and included in the body of this email instructions for students who would like to set up a diploma address.  Please share this information with your students where you feel appropriate, or as always, feel free to refer them to me and I will be happy to assist them with this as well.

Changing Address for Diploma
In Uaccess Student center go to Personal Information (Bottom Left of screen)
You should see “other personal ▼”( >>) with a pulldown menu
Click the pulldown menu (▼) and choose addresses then click( >>)
Click green box that says ADD A NEW ADDRESS
Enter the appropriate address where you want the diploma to be sent.
Once it is all entered click the yellow OK button
Once you click the yellow OK button a screen will pop up in the center of the screen bringing up a list of Address types to choose from
In that box which has options of Permanent, Mail, Billing, UA Street Addr, Intl-Home, Diploma, ISIR, Home --> you want to CLICK ON CHECKBOX NEXT TO Diploma.
Then Click the Green SAVE button
Your diploma will be sent to this diploma address which is now on record and will not affect your permanent or mailing address already on file.
