Would you like to improve your knowledge and skills in these areas to help with a TA'ship, better prepare for the job market, and your future? Consider taking college teaching courses or earning a Certificate in College Teaching.

For over 10 years, former graduates report that their experiences in certificate courses were a significant asset in helping them prepare for and attain a college teaching position. Graduate-level courses offered this Fall are open to all graduate students. These courses in teaching at the college level can be taken individually OR as part of the Certificate in College Teaching.
Courses for Fall 2014:
IA 697a: Learner-Centered Teaching (offered in-person Tuesdays 4-6:30 pm or fully online)
Designed for graduate students who will be serving as teaching assistants/graders or who plan to pursue a career in teaching. Pedagogical issues central to teaching/learning at the college level such as learning styles, classroom climate and culture will be covered.
IA 697b: Using Technology in Teaching (offered as a hybrid course - every other Wednesday 4-6:50 pm and online - offered Fall semesters only)
Combines in-depth reading and discussion related to pedagogical issues in the use of technology in teaching and learning with guided, individually focused training and practice in using technology in teaching.
NEW COURSE FOR FALL 2014 SEMESTER!
IA 697g: Universal Design - Accessible Learning Environments (fully online - offered Fall semesters only)
This course provides a comprehensive review of the theory, strategies, and techniques used in instructional design processes that foster inclusive learning environments for all learners. The curriculum addresses characteristics of learners such as learning differences, preferences and 21st century learning attributes, approaches for utilizing differentiated instruction, engagement and motivation techniques, classroom management tactics, and universal design strategies. Emphasis will be placed on critical review of the literature as practically applied to various learning environments and contexts in post-secondary education.
