[Plsgs] Graduate Student Club News and Updates

Hello,

I hope you are doing well.

A few updates:

*Spring 2014 Invited Seminar Speaker.
*
Marc Orbach has asked us to come up with a researcher that we'd like to
invite to speak during the Spring seminar series. As always, this is an
excellent opportunity for us to bring an outstanding academic to the
University. I have attached the list of recommended speakers from this
current term (minus the winner) - if there is any one *not on this
list*that you would like to suggest, please let me know as soon as you
can. I
think we should have suggestions in by Wednesday and have voting open for
about a week.

I'll also mention that our Fall invited speaker, Dr. Sheng-Yang He, will be
speaking on Tuesday, Dec. 10. If you would like to meet with him please let
me know, or feel free to contact him directly: hes at msu.edu.

*Grad Club Elections
*
We will be voting for our next club council this week! So far we have the
following nominations:

Josh - Minister of Propaganda (club communication, appearance, advertising,
and propaganda)
Brian - Treasurer (communicates with Forbes office to handle club funds)
Jenn - Secretary (records club activities)
Evan - Vice President (organizes club)
Justin - President (organizes club)

If you would like to hold a position or want to nominate some one that you
think would be good for the job, please let me know! I can also provide
more information about the positions, if needed. I'll send out a survey
later this week once I receive all of the nominations.

*Monthly Meeting
*
This Tuesday October 1st we will have our Monthly meeting at 3:30PM in
Marley 341H! I encourage you to attend. Snacks and beverages will be
provided!
