Subject: An Additional 700 NSF GRFP Awards Expected!
The Program Solicitation for the 2014 NSF Graduate Research Fellowship
Program has just been posted. It contains wonderful news! NSF expects to
award an additional 700 fellowships this year for a total of 2700 awards. To
put this in perspective, most other large national fellowships (like the
Ford, the Jack Kent Cooke, and the Hertz) distribute a total of under 100
awards.
If you are eligible, this is a great year to apply.
If you meet the following criteria, you are likely eligible for the NSF
GRFP:
1. US citizens, US nationals, or permanent residents
2. Completed no more than 12 months of full-time graduate studies.
(This generally includes incoming graduate students and graduate students in
the fall of their second year.)
3. Students in the following fields: Engineering; Computer and
Information Sciences and Engineering; Materials Research; Mathematical
Sciences; Chemistry; Physics and Astronomy; Social Sciences; Psychology;
STEM Education and Learning; Life Sciences; Geosciences.
4. Check full eligibility criteria:

If you are eligible for the NSF GRFP, application support is available
through the Graduate College! Last year, 75% of the University of Arizona
GRFP awardees had received support through the Graduate College.
This year's deadlines are early. Please complete the survey below to
