Southwest Environmental Health Sciences Center (SWEHSC) Pilot Grants Program

The Southwest Environmental Health Sciences Center (SWEHSC), an NIEHS funded
Center at the University of Arizona, announces the availability of funds for
pilot projects in support of new multi-investigator or program project
initiatives involving research related to the mission of the National
Institute of Environmental Health Sciences and the Center
(http://www.niehs.nih.gov/about/strategicplan/index.cfm). The current
emphasis for SWEHSC pilot projects is intended to foster the interactions of
multiple investigators around a common theme that can be used to develop
applications for larger program projects or multi-investigator grants.
Successful applications should involve collaborating investigators and
identify potential shared goals of the group (grant application mechanisms
etc.). Projects that 1) promote the integration of basic science with public
health research or patient-oriented clinical research, 2) enhance the career
development of junior faculty members involved in health science research,
and 3) make use of technologies available in the SWEHSC Facility Cores will
be viewed favorably. It is anticipated that projects will be funded at the
level of $80,000
