Dear graduate students,
I hope that everyone is having an excellent and productive summer!
I am writing to let you know about a new course / special opportunity that I
will offer this fall (fall 2012). Please respond to me as soon as possible
if you would like to enroll. It's a great chance to gain the sort of
teaching, communication, and instruction skills that will help those with a
future in academia, extension, outreach, industry and agriculture.
PLP 699
Teaching in Plant-Microbe Interactions

Instructor: Betsy Arnold
PLP 699 is a new course for graduate students interested in exploring and
applying excellence in teaching. We will meet once weekly to discuss current
views regarding best practices in teaching at the college and graduate
levels; develop teaching portfolios and teaching statements relevant for
academic job-searches; and explore the principles of pedagogy. Students will
be assessed on the basis of participation, development of their teaching
statement, short writing and presentation assignments, and development and
execution of 1-2 labs for PLP 551 in fall 2012.
Please contact Betsy as soon as possible to indicate that you would like to
enroll! arnold at ag.arizona.edu
