[Plsfaculty] SPLS: Participate in Homecoming, to reach alumni and our CALES community?

Dear colleagues,

CALES is planning its events for Homecoming, including the Burrito Breakfast and activities at the annual Homecoming Tailgate Tent event. Events will be held Nov. 8, 9am-1:30pm, on the mall.

Units across CALES will be presenting activities or sharing swag, connecting students with alumni, and otherwise being present to showcase programs/initiatives on that day. For example, last year, students from SNRE met alumni, chatted about programs, and handed out items like stickers. Faculty and students from ENTO offered a tasting booth for edible insects.

Plant Sciences writ large is welcome to participate, and this is a general call to ask for interest from our Centers, collections, and/or individual PIs. Do you have broader impacts to fulfill, or a desire to share your research or other activities more broadly? How can we improve the visibility of our unit in this setting? I will be attending, but will have other duties that preclude staffing a booth.

I know we have a lot of enthusiasm and strengths to offer as a School. Please let me know by tomorrow at 5pm if you'd like a reserved space and what your idea might be. I am happy to chat.
