Dear colleagues,

Please see the announcement below, sent on behalf of Alex Bucksch and Mark Beilstein. We have some terrific graduate teaching assistants in SPLS, and I hope we can put forward outstanding nominees. Please direct questions to Alex, Mark, and me.

Thank you!

Warm regards,

Fall 2024 Meritorious Awards for Graduate Teaching Assistants

Is a graduate student who works with you a teaching superstar?

CALES is on the hunt for one exceptional TA per major! To make things easier and reduce the paperwork load, we're offering a pre-selection process with minimal materials required up front. Only students chosen as finalists will need to submit the full application package for the major in which they taught.

To participate in the pre-selection process, please provide:

• A one-page nomination letter that also specifies the major.
• A CV highlighting the student’s TA assignments and teaching evaluations.
• Names of three undergrads willing to provide glowing recommendation letters.
• Contact information for the major professor of the course who can give an enthusiastic evaluation.

Send the pre-selection package to Alex (bucksch at arizona.edu<mailto:bucksch at arizona.edu>) and Mark (mbeilstein at arizona.edu<mailto:mbeilstein at arizona.edu>) by September 20, 2024. If selected, you'll hear from us within a week!

Selected students will need to submit a full packet by 16 October. A full packet includes the items listed above plus: 1) a one page GTA Teaching Philosophy statement, and 2) a one page Summary of Teaching Responsibilities.

Let’s find out if your student is the next teaching legend!
