Hi Alex,

I have done it several years ago with the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Dr. Wyne Coats from the Department of Biosystem Engineering at the U of A who is retired now was the representative of the USDA and was authorized to give the letter to import the seeds to the US and a colleague at the UAE University got permission from the UAE Ministry of Agriculture for me to export the seeds from the USA to the UAE. It always worked very smoothly for me. You probably need similar permissions from the Ministry of Agriculture in the UK and Germany to export the seeds from the USA over there and similar permission from the USDA for importing the seeds from there to here.

Best wishes,
Mohammad

Subject: [Plsfaculty] Question: Export of genetic material to Germany and UK

Hi all,

I need to exchange some seeds with the UK and Germany in offical ways. However, the US did not ratify the Nagoya protocol that normally regulates such exchanges and the rights on the genetic material.
Does anyone of you has some insights how such exchange is regulated or who to ask?

Best,
Alex
