Thank you, Karen and the subcommittee, for this fundamental and clear guideline for this critical process for our colleagues. Clarity and support are paramount to this process, and I can see it happening here.
I am not on this committee or the subcommittee. As a colleague and well-wisher, I want to take this opportunity to tell all of my junior colleagues something: a lot is going on at various levels at the University now, but safeguard measures and support like that demonstrated in this email are in place to ensure your success. Please reach out to any of us for help and support.
Thank you
Ravi

Subject: [Plsfaculty] The Faculty Promotion Subcommittee and promotion dossier preparation guidelines
Hi Everyone,
As a department, we remain committed to the success of our junior and mid-career faculty. To support this commitment, we have established a new subcommittee as part of the Academic Personnel Policies (APPC; Promotion, Tenure and Continuing) Committee. The “Faculty Promotion Subcommittee” will serve as a resource for anyone moving through the promotion process. For faculty in all tracks (tenure, continuing, career) we will provide information about the promotion process, guidance for dossier preparation and, in conjunction with faculty mentors, review of the dossier before submission.
Committee members are Dr. Betsy Arnold, Dr. Ramin Yadegari, Dr. Marc Orbach (working with us as chair of the APPC), and me.
We have prepared guidelines (attached and in the shared committee guideline BOX) for the promotion process and will shortly reach out to our junior and mid-career colleagues (and any interested mentors) to invite everyone to a meeting where we can talk about the process and answer any questions. You are also welcome to reach out to any of us as you think about your program and your progress towards promotion.
Best regards. Karen
