[Plsfaculty] Remote research opportunity/opportunities for students in Kazakhstan?

Dear SPLS faculty,

There is a very talented and ambitious student at Kozybayev University (Kazakhstan) who is in our dual-degree program in biotechnology and who is very interested in participating in a research project with a University of Arizona mentor. I realize that this is a long shot, but if any of you would be willing to mentor this student in a remote research project, please let me know. In the last year, he gave a speech at an event where the president of Kazakhstan was in attendance and while I was in Kazakhstan in September, he gave a speech in Kazakh, Russian, and English at an event where the Minister of Science and Higher Education was present (he is fluent in English). He also just contacted me today to see if I could help him publish a review article he wrote on biopesticides and autism spectrum disorder, to give you a feel for his ambition.

He will likely travel to Tucson in Fall 2025 for a semester, so could possibly continue his work in person during that semester. I can imagine that a computer-based project would be easiest/most practical re: equipment, supplies, and $, but there might be the possibility of some wet-bench work - we could discuss that possibility.
