Hello SPLS faculty,

This is a quick reminder to please consider the eligible grad candidates and let me know soon if you would like to extend a formal offer to a student to join your research program.  As an agreement all offers have an acceptance deadline of mid April, so to give the student ample time offers should be sent out soon.

To initiate an offer please email me the candidate information (name and program) you wish to make an offer to, and I will confirm to the Unit Head (David) that the student is eligible for admission into the program.  Unit admin will also expect to see a financial plan prior to sending the student a formal offer into the SPLS grad program.

Hello SPLS Faculty



The grad committee is hosting a recruitment event starting Monday Feb 27 afternoon and all-day Tuesday Feb 28.  Please see the below google doc and sign up for any invited student you might be interested in meeting and mingle with candidate graduate students at some of the group evening events.  We are requesting that the primary faculty member that shown interest in a candidate and requested they be invited take the lead and ensure the candidate has a full schedule Tuesday.



Monday Feb 27: Gentle Ben’s 4:30pm – all are welcome!

Tuesday Feb 26 TBD – 2 smaller groups – one PLP (organized by Judy Brown) and one PLS (organized by Dave Baltrus and/or Mark Beilstein)

Details for each student application are available via the GradApp (http://apply.grad.arizona.edu/user/login).  Please contact Amanda if you do not have access.



It is not logistically feasible to invite international candidate grad students to the recruitment event.  Offers can be initiated to any candidate at any time if they are on the eligible list of candidates compiled by the grad committee.  To initiate an offer please email me the candidate information you wish to make an offer to, and I will confirm to both the Unit Head (David) and Accounts Manager (Alicia) that the student is eligible for admission into the program.  Unit admin will also expect to see a financial plan prior to sending the student a formal offer into the SPLS grad program.
