Dear College and Department Representatives,
The University offers a 9/12 Pay Plan Option that allows eligible academic-year employees to distribute their salary over the 12-month fiscal year (July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023) instead of the standard nine-month academic year. Each year there is a window when eligible employees may choose to enroll in or withdraw from the 9/12 Pay Plan Option.
Workforce Systems is currently notifying eligible academic-year employees that they may enroll in or withdraw from the 9/12 Pay Plan Option. Please be prepared to receive and process requests from employees in your unit.
1. The employee completes a 9/12 Enrollment Agreement or Return to 9/9 Pay Plan form and forwards it to you by Thursday, May 5, 2022.
2. You will review and process the enrollment or withdrawal as an attachment to a MSS Job Change Request. The Job Change Request is due to Workforce Systems by Monday, May 9, 2022.
Find enrollment and withdrawal forms, plus additional information (including MSS instructions) on the Division of Human Resources website<https://hr.arizona.edu/employees-affiliates/compensation/912-pay-plan-option-academic-year-employees>.
Employees who should withdraw from the 9/12 pay plan now are:
* a 9/12 employee who does not intend to return for Academic Year 2023. If the employee will not be working over the summer, you will submit a MSS Termination to Workforce Systems by Friday, May 6, 2022, with a termination or retirement effective date of May 23, 2022.
* any employee who foresees a job change, such as resigning, retiring, entering into the final year of a phased retirement agreement, reducing their FTE, taking a leave of absence, or going on long-term disability during Fiscal Year 2023.
If you are aware of employees in these situations, please prompt them to complete the Return to 9/9 Pay Plan form.
If you have any questions regarding processing 9/12 Pay Plan enrollment or withdrawals, please contact Workforce Systems at workforcesystems at arizona.edu<mailto:workforcesystems at arizona.edu>.
Please share this information with your colleagues.
