On behalf of the Development and Fundraising Committee
Greetings:
The Development and Fundraising Committee is preparing an internal school database to facilitate collaborations, research effectiveness, and elevate the success rate for obtaining extramural research funds. When complete, the database will be distributed to the faculty. Faculty members can then use it a resource to identify possible collaborations, gain access to specialized equipment, and seek advice in obtaining extramural funds. To this end, we request you respond to the following inquiries. As an example, I have included my entries in red. Please email you responses to me (bfane at email.arizona.edu<mailto:bfane at email.arizona.edu>) by December 1.
1) Specialized equipment that faculty members are willing to share.
Ultracentrifuge (rotors and electronic gradient maker for various rate zonal and equilibrium sedimentation analyses) FPLC, UV plate spectrophotometer (96 well throughput; 5 simultaneous UV channels; time-point capable for kinetic analyses)
2) General topics about which faculty members are willing to advise or e.g. microscopy, protein purification.
Protein characterization, purification, and modeling, sedimentation analyses of protein complexes.
3) Areas of potential collaboration.
Characterization of macromolecular complexes.
4) Expertise with obtaining funds from various funding agencies:
A. Agencies that have funded your research (PI).
NSF
B. Agencies on which you have served on an advisory board that reviews grant proposals (does not include ad hoc reviewing) and the name of the panel and/or study section:
NSF (Macromolecular Biochemistry, Prokaryotic Genetics)
US-Israeli Bi-national Science Foundation (Microbiology)
C. Industries and Associations from which you have obtained research funding: (specific companies, industries and/or associations).
None
