Subject: Norman Borlaug Award for Field Research & Application
Dear Dr. Maw,
I am most pleased to announce a new award that has been established by The
World Food Prize: The Norman Borlaug Award for Field Research and
Application, Endowed by the Rockefeller Foundation.
I urge you to nominate an individual for this special recognition of an
individual under the age of 40 who has clearly emulated the traits exhibited
by Dr. Borlaug as a young scientist in the fight to eliminate global hunger.
The criteria and nomination procedure for this prestigious new award are
available at www.worldfoodprize.org/borlaugfieldaward.
Nominations for the first annual Norman Borlaug Award for Field Research and
Application will be accepted online through June 30; the chosen recipient
will be honored during a ceremony as part of the World Food Prize
international symposium, the "Borlaug Dialogue," and related events taking
place October 17-19, 2012, in Des Moines, Iowa.
The official press release with details about this award is available online
at bit.ly/borlaugaward <http://www.bit.ly/borlaugaward> . We hope that your
organization will consider nominating a worthy individual, and that you will
help us get the word out by distributing our press release to your
constituents and any others that you believe may wish to bring forward
worthy candidates.
Thank you for your interest in this endeavor.
Sincerely,
Ambassador Kenneth M. Quinn
President, The World Food Prize Foundation
