Dear Colleagues,
Please read below. Basically the university wants to know if we have any
graduate students presently working/studying/doing research in the Middle
East at this time. If anyone from your group is in this situation, please
let me know.

Subject: Information requested ASAP: Graduate Students in the Middle East
Importance: High
Dear Directors of Graduate Studies and Graduate Program Coordinators,
As you are aware from today's news, political protests are spreading across
a number of countries in the Middle East. The Provost has requested that we
compile a list of all our graduate students who are currently in the region,
ASAP, in order for us to be aware of their situation and in case they may
need assistance.
Using your best available information, I ask that you compile and submit a
list of your program's graduate students, by using the attached spreadsheet
and send it to Cynthia Bjerk-Plocke at the address above. We need the
student's full name, Student ID, address, City and Country where they are,
email address, phone number, Graduate Program Major, the best departmental
contact person (coordinator, DGS, Head/Director, or major advisor), and
comments if any. If at all possible, please submit as much information you
can today even if you update/complete/modify this information in the coming
days.
I have also let the College Deans know that we are requesting this
information. Please copy your college dean on your response to the Graduate
College so they have your information as well.
If you have any questions, please contact Maria Teresa Velez, Associate
Dean, at 621-7815 or mvelez at grad.arizona.edu
Many thanks,
Andrew C. Comrie, Ph.D.
Associate Vice President for Research
Dean of the Graduate College
