[Plsfaculty] Very Importanty Information: Holiday Closure Information

Hello All,

 

As the University does every winter, it will be closed between the Christmas
and New Year holidays.   The dates are 12.24.11 to 01.02.12, reopening on
Tuesday January 3, 2012.

 

During the Closure, there are three days December 28, 29, 30th  that are not
attributed to holidays.  Therefore, you have choices for your employees
during that time frame:

 

.         Work:  If your laboratory is open and the employee agrees they can
work during those three days, then they will use PAW or Regular hours for
these three days.

 

.         Vacation:  If your employee has enough accrued vacation hours they
can use vacation hours for these days.

 

.         Paid Leave:  This option is only for employees who can report PAW
(not that you will report PAW.)   If the employee has work continues and
extra hours throughout the year and with your permission, they can take PAID
Leave which is the payroll code UC.  Again, this can only be with your
permission.

 

.         Unpaid leave:   If the employee does not have vacation time
accrued, will not be working during those three days, and cannot do Paid
leave.  Then their only option is unpaid leave.

 

Please discuss this with your employees this week, so that they can make
their plans for the closure.  None of these policies or time reporting
options are new, but I just wanted to send out this reminder.
