On Behalf of Drs. McMahon and Sanderson:
Please join us for a post-seminar joint PLS-EEB reception for this week's
Plant Sciences speaker, Dr. Mark Beilstein. Dr. Beilstein has broad research
interests including genome evolution through gene and genome duplication,
biofuel production in Brassicaceae, and phylogenetics at scales from
Arabidopsis and relatives through seed plants. In addition to the talk for
PLS at 4pm, he will give the EEB Tuesday (Oct 26) seminar entitled "Hidden
Histories in Brassicaceae:
phylogeny, molecular clocks, and hybridization", 12:30pm, Haury 216.
The reception will be tomorrow night (Tuesday Oct 26), 6pm, at our home,
2650 N. Bonanza Ave., ~25 minutes from campus. From Tanque Verde, go left
(NNE) on Catalina Highway; after ~.5 mi, turn right on Morrill; after about
.9 mi, turn right on Cactus Flower, a dirt road that turns into Bonanza. Our
house is second from the last on the left (turn in at the lighted saguaro).
We'll start at 6pm; casual dinner will be provided, some beverages will be
on hand but more would be welcome.
Hope to see you there!
Shelley McMahon and Mike Sanderson (EEB)
