We are going to work with the College to fix our autoclaves. Following is
the present state of Marley autoclaves:
3rd floor - both autoclaves broken
4th floor - two newer autoclaves and one broken down but turned in
5th floor - both autoclaves broken
6th floor - Entomology, both autoclaves operational (I kicked in some
dollars to help Bruce get these repaired) but they are behind locked doors
because people from other floors are using them
7th floor - Entomology, only one autoclave and it is operational but again
behind locked doors
8th floor - one autoclave that is partially functional' can't run all cycles
3rd and 5th floor occupants: with today's science, do you think one
autoclave per floor is enough, especially if there are two newer autoclaves
on the 4th floor that could be fall-backs?
8th floor occupants: does your autoclave need to be replaced or can it be
repaired?
I believe we will continue to have problems unless we deal with the water
that is used in the autoclaves so we will be looking into this. We are all
going to need to do a better job of training our lab personnel as to what
can go into the autoclaves and what type of containers they should be
utilizing. Please replay to Randy and me but not all of the faculty. Thanks,
ken
