[Plsfaculty] Congratulations to Dennis and a new committee

Dennis Ray was nominated for a regional United States Department of
Agriculture Food and Agriculture Sciences Excellence in Teaching Award. We
received notice several months ago that he had won for the western region
and last month he traveled to DC to receive the Award. The award comes with
$2,000 to be used to strength instruction and a very nice plaque
representing the western region. This is a very prestigious national award
in the Land-Grant system and I hope you will find time to stop by to
congratulate Dennis and admire the plaque. These are the kinds of honors
that continue to strengthen our School. 
 
In this vein, many College, University and national awards do not come to
our staff, students and faculty because no one knows about these
opportunities or takes the time to put the applications together or, in my
case, waits to the very last minute and loses sleep about it. While I
eliminated two committees to save our faculty some time, I am compelled to
put together a committee to help ensure that we do not continue to miss
opportunities. Dennis and I will serve on this committee and thus far Mike
Ottman, Marc Orbach and Laura de Steiguer have agreed to serve. I would like
to get one more volunteer from the development, genetics and genomics group.

 
Again, congratulations to Dennis on this excellent, national teaching award.
