[Plantsci] Wonderful Wednesday! Emails from SPLS Business Office

Good morning everyone!

I will be sending out emails every “Wonderful Wednesday” to communicate changes and updates within the business office to keep everyone informed on process changes and new developments in the business office.  Due to so many things happening all at once on my 7th day here, this one is coming to you on a Thursday (which I could think of no inspiring adjective with the same beginning consonant).  I didn’t want to wait until next week to touch base with everyone on the status of this amazing business office.  😊  I will be diligent in the future and get them out on Wonderful Wednesdays.

First thing I wanted to mention is that Tahj, our Accounting Assistant will be leaving us on July 26th as he has decided to move to Phoenix.  I wish him the best on his career path and journey!

Thanks to everyone utilizing the main email in box to communicate to the business office.  This is helping us to organize the tremendous in flow of communications that we receive daily.  The emails are assigned to various staff to take care of.  This is a new process for everyone to learn and utilize, but the team is doing great.  We are getting a handle on the multitude of communications, but we still aren’t quite to the level we need to be.  Soon, very soon.

I have received many emails inquiring on the status of reimbursements.  First of all, my sincere apologies that reimbursements and other financial transactions were/are not completed timely.  As that is one of my Critical Priorities- I am hoping to get everything caught up by the middle of next week as Lizzy is off on vacation this week and Tahj has limited ability on processing financial transactions.

We are still working on getting the vacant position of Accountant II filled from when Richard left.  Taylor and Nate had started this process prior to my arrival in the School of Plant Sciences, and they are diligently working on getting this position filled.  I have every faith in them to find an outstanding candidate.

Again, I appreciate the warm welcome I have received and will continue to keep you updated as the business office goes through this sometimes difficult, short time period of change and growth.  We have a great team here and I have every confidence that we can get to where we need to be so that our team is the most efficient business office on campus (my personal goal 😊).
