[Plantsci] AGI event on mailing lists

Dear Scientist,

The Arizona Genomics Institute<https://www.genome.arizona.edu/> (School of Plant Sciences, UA) and PacBio<https://www.pacb.com/> are organizing a seminar<https://events.pacb.com/pacbioseminar-agi/home> focused on DNA sequencing applications for the advancement of biological research.

Hosted by UA's BIO5 Institute, the 3-hour hybrid event will feature talks by PacBio and UA scientists. After a general introduction of SMRT sequencing technology, the focus will move on to examples of sequencing projects, and wrap up with an emphasis on the possible applications for medical genetic research.

By submitting a short abstract, all registered attendees will have the opportunity to enter a SMRT Sequencing Grant. The winning project will receive credit for sequencing up to two SMRT cells. Five other relevant entries will benefit from a 20% credit on their sequencing project.

After the Q&A session, an outdoor networking lunch will allow for further exchange of experiences and ideas. Hi Dario,

I will share it with SPLS listserv in a few minutes. To share with other areas of CALS I would recommend adding it to the ALVSCE Weekly Bulletin: https://compass.arizona.edu/bulletin. I do not know the listservs for each of the departments you listed and it is not listed anywhere that I am aware of. You can always do a search on the main UA page to see where else you can get the word out: https://www.arizona.edu/.

Hello Erin and Amanda,

Could you please send out the attached message to the mailing lists that you have access to?
It is about the event that AGI and PacBio are organizing for next week (Nov 16), and our goal is to showcase what our lab and that sequencing technology can do to help researchers address their questions from the genetic data point of view.

Also, could you please share it with other departments? I am thinking of EEB, CALS, College of Science, Vet Science, environmental Sciences, entomology, or any other group that you think are relevant. I am writing to now to the  PIs of the ecological genomics group.
