Dear Colleagues,
The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) allows employers to voluntarily continue and expand the use of emergency paid sick leave and expanded family and medical leave (FML) for absences. To support employees, especially in receiving a COVID-19 vaccine, the University has elected to follow the ARPA guidance.
What you need to know
* Use of these two leaves for COVID-19 absences has been extended to June 30, 2021. (The previous deadline was March 31, 2021.)
* The purposes for which you can take leave have been expanded and now include: obtaining a COVID-19 vaccination, recovering from illness following a COVID-19 vaccination, and awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test following exposure to the virus. Additional changes
Emergency paid sick leave
* As of April 1, 2021, the bank of available emergency sick leave was reset, and all eligible employees have 80 hours (adjusted by FTE) available to them regardless of how many hours they have previously used.
Expanded FML
* Expanded FML can now be requested for the same reasons as emergency sick leave.
* All 12 weeks of expanded FML are now paid (previously, the first two weeks were not). However, if you have already taken 12 weeks of FML within the past 12 months, you are not eligible for additional FML.

Use the request form and time reporting codes outlined on the FFCRA webpage.
