[Plantsci] 2013 UA Cares Campaign

The 2013 UA Cares campaign has begun. This is a time when university employees have the opportunity to donate to their choice of funds here at the university and to non-profit initiatives throughout the community. The campaign has successfully partnered with the UA Foundation and the United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona over the past ten years. During that time, employees have made a real difference in the lives of others by supporting student scholarships, groundbreaking medical research, critical community programs that provide food, healthcare and housing for our most vulnerable citizens, and much more.

I want to emphasize that your donation does make a difference. A small contribution from your paycheck can quickly add up. Donating five dollars from every paycheck makes for a $130 donation over the course of a year. We have a staff member who has donated through UA Cares over the last 10 years and has contributed over $12,000 to the college (an average of $46.15 a paycheck). Small contributions quickly add up to have a positive impact on the college, the university, and the community.

If you would like to give to a program close to home, please consider a gift for a CALS scholarship, the Dean's Fund for Excellence, or speak with your department head about making a gift to your own department.

Our School has the opportunity to make a considerable impact on the university and the community. This is a very personal decision and as you consider making a contribution please know that a gift of any size makes a real difference.

UAccess - Online giving for the 2013 UA Cares campaign will be available from Tuesday, October 8, 2013 through Friday, December 6, 2013.

*         Paper pledge forms <http://uacares.arizona.edu/sites/uacares.arizona.edu/files/ua_cares_pledge_sheet_final_2013_1.pdf> may be used for payroll deductions, check or credit card gifts (United Way credit card gifts only).  Credit card gifts to UA Foundation - please visit: www.uafoundation.org/give/uacares<http://www.uafoundation.org/give/uacares> to make a secure online credit card donation.

Other Reminders
Payroll Deductions:
When you sign up for a payroll deduction pledge, you are agreeing to have a certain dollar amount deducted from the number of payrolls that you determine. Payroll deductions for the 2013 campaign will begin on the first pay period in January of 2014.

Online system is for payroll deduction gifts only.
The online system is designed to accept payroll deduction pledges only. If you would like to pledge a one-time gift by check or credit card, please fill out a pledge sheet and return it with your payment to your department coordinator.

Do not duplicate your pledge online and on paper.
You may submit payroll deduction pledges online OR any type of gift with a paper pledge. Please do not submit both paper and online pledges.
