If we already change your settings you should be fine.
If you are still using CALS or AG as your primary email account then we will need to make these changes on your portable devices.

Subject: [CALS_Users] changes to email settings
Hello,
This message is for anyone with a smart phone, tablet, laptop or any other mobile device used to send email through the UA. In CALS we rely on a server at UITS to send email from our off-campus computers, tablets, and smartphones. The name of that server is smtpgate.email.arizona.edu<http://smtpgate.email.arizona.edu/> and the way you connect to it must change.
UITS has acquired an appliance to combat the large volume of spam received by UAConnect accounts. This new appliance is already in place for incoming mail, and according to all reports it is doing a good job of blocking incoming spam. But UA also filters outgoing mail to prevent us from spamming anyone. On January 27, 2014 smtpgate.email.arizona.edu<http://smtpgate.email.arizona.edu/> will start filtering outgoing mail and if the settings on your off-campus devices is incorrect then you will be unable to send mail.
In preparation for this change, the settings on all your off-campus computers, tablets, and smartphones must change. In general the outgoing SMTP server must connect to port 587 using the STARTTLS encryption setting. Screenshots for Outlook, Thunderbird, iPhone, and Android are at the bottom of this page:
https://cct.cals.arizona.edu/units/net/#selection-3<https://cct.cals.arizona.edu/units/net/>
If your computer, tablet, or smartphone is connected to a UA network, including the UA VPN, then your settings won't change. For example, a desktop computer in an office on campus will not require any changes to its settings.
If you have questions about how to adjust these settings contact your department IT support personnel. If you're uncertain who provides your IT support consult this table:

Thanks,
Ryan
