Hi All,

                I am writing you about the Fall PLS/PLP seminar.  This fall
we will only have one seminar in the School which will be held on Tuesdays
at 4:00 PM.  The seminar will be organized like the Friday seminar in the
past.  That is, this is the series in which graduate students will give
their formal seminars.  As a reminder, during the course of their graduate
studies, students enrolled in a Master's program are expected to give one
seminar before their Thesis defense seminar and students enrolled in a Ph.D.
program are expected to give two seminars before their Dissertation defense
seminar.  This seminar is also open for any of you in the School who would
like to give a seminar - including faculty, postdocs, sabbatical visitors,
etc.  Also, if there are members of other academic units and/or local
scientists from other disciplines or services with a topic of interest to
members of the School, send me or other members of the seminar committee
their contact information and we will see if we can arrange a seminar.  In
addition, if you have a visitor to Tucson with research that would be of
interest and this individual would be willing to give a seminar, this is the
place!  Please keep in mind that, other than a speaker to be invited by our
graduate students, we will have very limited funds to support visits from
outside speakers.

                If you would like to give a seminar or have a suggestion for
a seminar speaker, and/or you have any questions about the seminar, please
contact a committee member or me.  Below is the fall schedule which is
fairly wide open and I am particularly looking for those that would be
