The search committee for the CALS Associate Dean for Research and Director
of the Ag Experiment Station is pleased to announce the interview schedule
for three outstanding candidates.  The search process was open and
applications from across the country were evaluated.  The top three
candidates will be visiting campus in Tucson on one day and then the
Maricopa Ag Center on a second day.  We encourage you to participate in one
or more of their open forums (schedule is below) as we seek input from the
broad CALS community.  

 

Each candidate will meet with multiple groups during the visit.  From 3-5pm
on the first day they will give a 20 minute presentation on their vision for
CALS research followed by an hour and a half of questions from the audience.
We will videotape the presentations and make available online and will have
a process for questions conveyed by online.  INFORMATION ON HOW TO ACCESS

On their second day of visit, they have a similar forum hosted at the
Maricopa Ag Center (BigMac).  Evaluation sheets will be available at the
forums or can be accessed at the link above.  

 

Ron Allen (UA-Animal Sciences) 

Dr. Allen has been at the UA since 1980 when he began in the Departments of
Animal Sciences and of Nutrition and Food Science.  Since 2006 he has served
as Head of Animal Sciences.  His research focuses on regulation of skeletal
muscle mass during growth, regeneration, disease and aging and the role of
muscle stem cells.

Jeff Silvertooth (UA-SWES) 

Dr. Silvertooth has been at the UA since 1987 when he joined the Department
of Plant Sciences.  Since 2000 he has served as the Head of the Soil, Water
and Environmental Science.  His areas of expertise include cotton production
and soil fertility.

Bradley Hillman (Rutgers University) 

Dr. Hillman is currently Director for Research, New Jersey Agricultural
Experiment Station at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ.  He has
served in this role since 2007.  He began at Rutgers in 1989 eventually
becoming Professor in Plant Biology.  His expertise lies in plant virology.
