On Behalf of David Galbraith:
==================================================
Dennis, Bill and I are offering a new course (PLS 195A: First Year
Colloquium) which is designed to excite entering freshmen in careers
in the Plant Sciences. We hope to feature visiting speakers having
demonstrably productive careers based on an undergraduate degree in
PLS (or related fields).
Based on budgetary considerations, I have explored the idea of
distance-learning using communications software, and it seems
entirely feasible for us to have at least some class sessions using
distal speakers, presenting their audio and video and a powerpoint
presentation in real time across the internet.
I am writing to ask your help in identifying "famous" PLS or CALS
alumni and alumnae (interpreted broadly -- i.e. these could be former
UA/PLS/CALS ugrad students, grad students, postdocs, faculty etc.)
that we could approach to provide talks like this. We can't offer
much in return, beyond the warm and fuzzy feeling that they are
assisting young Wildcats appreciate the Plant Sciences!
If you could pass that information back to me asap, I would be most
grateful (name, contact info, current employment, expertise, anything
else....).
Thanks
David
