[IYRPsupportgroup] FYI: Animated film on pastoralism now in Fulfulde / Side event on 29 Sept during Africa Climate Week

Dear all,

The “Pastoralism is the future” animated video film is now on the IYRP website with Fulfulde (Fula / Pulaar) voiceover - it is under News & Resources page (https://iyrp.info/resources/front <https://iyrp.info/resources/front>) as well as on the page for West & Central Africa / WCA (https://iyrp.info/videos/361 <https://iyrp.info/videos/361>).

This translation was funded by Misereor, Germany, and will allow many pastoralists in WCA to watch and hear and understand the video.

Thanks to Craig Boesewetter at the University of Arizona for uploading the various language versions of the video - in English with subtitles in nine other languages plus separate voiceover videos in Amharic, Fulfulde, Hindi and Swahili - on the IYRP website! The Russian subtitles are still in the making.

If anyone else is thinking of making additional language versions of this 2.5-minute video, please let me know and I will send you the original English script.

The next showing of this video will be at a side event organised by the International Institute of Environment and Development (IIED) during the Africa Climate Week 2021 of the UNFCCC on 26-29 September. The side event is on "Climate change and drylands – valuing variability for climate resilient development” in the Thematic Track “Integrated approaches for climate resilient development” and take place on Wednesday 29 September at 17:00-19:00 CEST. Inputs and discussion will be about how pastoralists are using climatic and environmental variability for sustainable production in the drylands and experiences in implementing devolved climate finance mechanisms in African drylands.
