Dear All,
for the International Year of Rangeland and Pastoralists 2026 we would
like to produceportraits in photos and short video clips about
Pastoralists around the world to show the variability of different
pastoralist cultures in an exhibition - this is our goal. We would like
to get support from CELEP members, IYRP support groups or others in
terms of infrastructure like transport, translator, contacts, etc.. Our
future collaboration partners can use the visual materials for their own
purposes. *We would like to stress that we will do our work for free.*
We - Dr. Petra Dilthey (cultural anthropologist/filmmaker) and Uli
Schwarz (environmental scientist/camera-operator) work as couple and
team since 20 years in film production especially in documenting
development work of governmental and non-governmental organizations
(BMZ, GIZ, SOS Kinderdörfer, Malteser International, Globalgiving, Care
& Share India, Amazonica, VSF Belgium, VSF Germany) as well as
documenting specific development projects for German TV. Since 10 years
we work with pastoral communities in Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia and
Senegal. For example we presented our documentary film “Deux filles –
Deux mondes” at the Festival du Film PASTORALISMES ET GRANDS ESPACES,
2018 in Grenoble, France
(_https://www.festival-pastoralismes.com/film/deux-filles-deux-mondes/
<https://www.festival-pastoralismes.com/film/deux-filles-deux-mondes/>_).
Since more than 10 years we have provided photos for BMZ, GIZ, Care &
Share India, Malteser International, CELEP, etc. For example 12 of our
photos can be found in the photo galleries on the website of
“International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists” (_https://iyrp.info/
<https://iyrp.info/>_). Please have also a look at the photos of our
website _www.eeem.org <http://www.eee.org/>_and at the photos of
_www.celep.info <http://www.celep.info/>_.
The new privacy law (DSGVO) makes it necessary and important to get the
written consent from everybody which will be in the pictures and in the
future exhibition - that is why we can not use most of our old photo-
and video materials. That is why it will be a completely new project.
If there is interest please contact us via: dilthey at eeem.org or
schwarz at eeem.org
Thank you and best regards
Uli and Petra
