> Subject: [CELEP] Introducing the CELEP webinars - webinar 1: "Understanding pastoralism and framing the argument for advcoacy" - 28 September - 13h-14h30 GMT+2
>
> Dear all,
>
> As you might have seen on the CELEP website. CELEP is planning to organise a series of webinars between September and December. As a coalition, CELEP is committed to its objectives in terms of communication, lobbying/advocacy and learning on pastoralism in Eastern Africa. It is within this regard that we will organise a series of bi-weekly online seminars. These webinars will have learning and advocacy objectives and will add to capacity building and an overall enabling policy framework for pastoralism in (Eastern) Africa. They are an initiative of CELEP members and partners and associated organisations but they are open to everyone who has an interest in pastoralism in Eastern Africa. Each webinar will focus on a specific theme and during 1.5h sessions, researchers and civil society representatives from Eastern Africa and Europa will discuss and exchange with participants.
>
> The first webinar is entitled “Understanding pastoralism and framing the argument for advocacy” and will take place on 28 September from 13h GMT+2 to 14h30, meaning 13h in Europe and 14h in Eastern Africa. The overall objective of this webinar is to exchange on a shared understanding, view and vocabulary about pastoralism with actors involved in technical programmes as well as advocacy concerning pastoralism. A more detailed description can be found in the annex. The webinar will be hosted by MISEREOR. The speakers will include: Saverio Kratli (independent researcher, editor of the journal Nomadic Peoples, author of the Pastoral Development Orientation Framework for Ethiopia); Monica Yator (Pastoralist Development Network Kenya, PDNK); Abdulkadir Noor (Partnership for Pastoralist Development Association, PAPDA), Ethiopia; Loupa Pius (Dynamic Agro-pastoralist Development Organisation, DADO), Uganda.
