Dear Fiona,

Congratulations on what you et al have managed to organise so far! I hope the lunch meeting last week at FAO went well.

Last week we had a very constructive CELEP annual general meeting in Brussels, including a lunchtime conference at the European Commission InfoPoint, where Misereor’s new pastoral development orientation framework (see attachment) was presented. Although the focus is on Ethiopia, the first part of the orientation framework is relevant for pastoralism worldwide. The author and facilitator of the process of developing the orientation framework was Saverio Krätli (editor of the journal Nomadic Peoples).

Some short video films were also made in Brussels, in which I had a chance to talk about the IYRP campaign.

Cheers,
Ann

Dear All,

Please find a link to the session we organized at the Global Landscapes Forum New York where the Government of Mongolia's permanent representative to the UN was meant to give a short talk on the IYRP but the programme ran late and he had to leave so his assistant took his place. Thank-you to all those that assisted with this particularly Gabriel, Hijaba, Musa, Jurgen, Jon and Razingrim. It was a good session and we hope will lead to continued engagement in this important forum and the UN Decade of Ecosystem Restoration.

Fyi - on this Thursday at FAO the Mongolia Embassy in Rome with support from ILRI and space provided by FAO will hold a lunch meeting with other country representatives attending the Committee for Food Security, to inform them of the Year and to call for their support.

Best
Fiona
