Dear Jim,

I don’t think it absolutely has to be someone from Morocco. After all, the meeting is for the entire Mediterranean area. I think you could also ask other members of the ISG from the Mediterranean area, e.g. Engin from Turkey. He has been very active thus far and is well informed about the IYRP. You could also ask Mounir if he or someone else from ICARDA will be there, as they do a lot of work on sheep and goats in the Mediterranean area. And Maria’s idea of asking Pablo if he is planning to attend is also a good one.

Jim, Ahmed says Omar is retired and no longer has much connection or influence in the ministry. I am not sure that Ahmed knows anything about IYRP, but I can try to get him up to speed. We would need significant coaching on what to say etc. I also think it is worth finding out if any or our Spanish colleagues will be there (e.g. like Pablo Manzano, former WISP leader) who would be good speakers, unless it is best to have a Moroccan present since the meeting is in Morocco.
