Yup could be better - but then again, at least pastoralists (and livestock in places) are specifically mentioned which is good. Nice photo of pastoralists and sheep on page 5, but apart from one fisher photo, all the rest are of crop farming. We obviously need to keep on top of this process and keep raising rangelands/pastoralist issues including within the organizations that we are working with.

If you look at the Global Action Plan for the UN Decade of Family Farming (2019-28):

you will find that pastoralists are mentioned only in the repeated list of groups included under the term “family farmers”. There is no mention of action specific to rangelands or dryland areas.
Hopefully the UNDFF national committees in the countries with a large number of pastoralists will manage to get pastoralist-related actions into the plans and the implementation at that level.

In addition Audace Kubwimana, Coordinator of the ILC Africa Regional Platform raised pastoralism in his panel including the call for the IYRP. There were also several questions coming from participants on pastoralism and rangelands. Also copies of the Brief on FF and pastoralism were distributed.
We will be writing a short blog on the event with some more details and will share.
Perhaps others who attended and play a more central role in the activities could share information.
