Dear all,

The next International Rangeland Congress (IRC) will be held on 2-6 June 2025 in Adelaide, Australia (for more info, see https://irc2025.rangelandcongress.org/ <https://irc2025.rangelandcongress.org/> and the attached Third Announcement). The theme is "Working Together for our Global Rangelands Future”. The IRC2025 will be held half a year before the IYRP2026 commences. The Australian Organising Committee is working closely with the IYRP Global Secretariat to ensure that the Congress programme and activities provide an important platform for discussing the challenges and opportunities facing rangelands and pastoralists.

Registration for the IRC2025 has opened; you can get an early-bird discount until 30 September 2024. The link for registration is:

Abstracts can be submitted up to 2 June 2024. 

At the IRC2025, two concurrent sessions will be led by the IYRP International Support Group - on the subthemes "Valuing rangelands and pastoral systems for their societal contribution” and “Co-design, partnerships, and incorporating traditional knowledge for more enduring rangeland outcomes”. The speakers in the concurrent sessions should be there in person.

In addition, there will be a plenary IYRP-IRC Forum on Thursday afternoon (5 June 2025) before the conference dinner. 

The IYRP Global Coordinating Group met today and decided that - to be able to prepare properly for the IYRP-led sessions at the IRC2025 - we should first find out who from the IYRP alliance will be travelling to Adelaide to attend the Congress.

Therefore this request to all of you in the IYRP mailing list:

Please let Igshaan (isamuels at uwc.ac.za <mailto:isamuels at uwc.ac.za>) and me know if you will be attending the IRC2025 in person and would be interested in taking part in the IYRP-led sessions - including the possibility of giving presentations. If you are a member of one of the IYRP thematic Working Groups (https://www.iyrp.info/working-groups <https://www.iyrp.info/working-groups>) or would like to join one or more of them, please mention this, too - as the Working Groups will be playing a key role in preparing for the IYRP2026 sessions in the IRC2025.
