On behalf of the IYRP Working Group (WG) on Afforestation in Rangelands, Susi Vetter (South Africa) has published a journalistic piece “Planting trees in grasslands won’t save the planet <https://theconversation.com/planting-trees-in-grasslands-wont-save-the-planet-rather-protect-and-restore-forests-227591>” in The Conversation, based on the recent scientific article by the WG “Afforestation is not a natural climate solution <https://iyrp.info/sites/iyrp.org/files/2024%20Briske%20et%20al%20Rangeland%20afforestation%20is%20not%20a%20natural%20climate%20solution.pdf>”, written by David Briske, Susi Vetter, Corli Coetsee and Matt Turner, published in Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment. 

The piece in The Conversation can be easily understood by a non-scientific readership. Please share it widely, also beyond the IYRP alliance.
