Dear all,

On 6 March 2022, to celebrate progress toward UNESCO's recognition of transhumance as an Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) in Europe, sheep, cattle and horses and their herders strolled down the Champs Elysées in Paris - see https://www.fao.org/pastoralist-knowledge-hub/news/detail/en/c/1476515/ <https://www.fao.org/pastoralist-knowledge-hub/news/detail/en/c/1476515/>

"This recognition also echoes with the declaration process of the IYRP (International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists), planned for 2026, which the Government of Mongolia proposed and was endorsed by FAO. The UN General Assembly is expected to endorse it in the coming days."

Thanks to Francesca Pasetti, Focal Point Spain Nomination Transhumance UNESCO ICH, and to the FAO Pastoralist Knowledge Hub for sharing this news!

Cheers,
Ann
