Dear GCG members
As you would know, the LDN working Group has made tremendous strides in
developing a science-to-policy review paper as well as a 4 page policy
brief based on the 8 recommendations highlighted in the review paper. This
policy brief is currently being translated into different languages. The
recommendations call on stakeholders incl. countries and CSOs to put into
action processes that would be in support of the IYRP and in particular,
issues relating to Land Degradation Neutrality.
Maryam is spearheading the process whereby we will follow up with UNCCD
focal points reminding them of their country commitments but also to follow
up on these commitments.
Could you perhaps give your approval to send out these letters to the
relevant people and also comment on whether the process we will follow is
appropriate.
May I have your comments by 7 May 2024?
Maryam will follow up on these letters through engaging the IYRP general
list and RISG chairs.
Kind regards
Igshaan
