Dear GCG Members: FOR YOUR DECISION
We have a request from the Canadian Cattleman's Association (CCA), who are
a member of the IYRP ISG, to support them in a proposal for a side event
on "Conserving grasslands with grazing" at the upcoming CBD COP 15 in
Montreal (December 2022). The deadline for them to submit a proposal is
this friday.
The Co-chairs of the North America RISG are supportive of this invitation
and will be taking the lead on our behalf.
Accordingly, I would like to seek your decision whether to co-host or to
collaborate with the CCA on a proposal for a side event at the CBD COP 15
in Montreal.
*If I hear no objections by 28th September, then we will assume you are in
agreement. *
Thank you

Subject: COP15 Grasslands Side Event Proposal - Soliciting Partnerships
To: mniafull2 at gmail.com <mniafull2 at gmail.com>
Hello Dr.Maryam Niamir-Fuller,
The Canadian Cattle Association is preparing to engage in the UN
Biodiversity Conference which is being held in Montreal this December 7th-19
th (COP15)
https://www.unep.org/events/conference/un-biodiversity-conference-cop-15.
As part of our engagement, we are submitting an official side-event
proposal to the COP15 Secretariat on grasslands. We are reaching out to you,
as Vice Chair of the IYRP, to solicit your interest in partnering with us
in the proposal application.
Our proposal explores the importance of grassland ecosystems and its
conservation via grazing livestock. We would invite you to review draft
details attached. We are spearheading this initiative as the grasslands
ecosystem is a critically important landscape for Canada’s cattle ranchers
and farmers. But there are a whole host of reasons, related to livestock,
livelihood and habitat preservation, for why COP15 needs to include a
discussion on grasslands.
At this juncture, we require that you:
1. Review the proposal attached.
2. If desired, provide your acceptance to be listed as a co-host on the
proposal application.
Please note that the application deadline is *September 30th*. Your
earliest consideration is appreciated.
If we are successful in our application, we will reach out to outline the
full scope of the partnering opportunity. If successful, involvement in the
side-event can mean many things: logo placement; financial or in-kind
contributions; speaking opportunities, logo placement etc. The first step
is submitting an application.
Much thanks,
Amie Peck
