Subject: [assocdeans] New training available on the Tribal Consultation Policy
Dear ADRs,
Please share the information below with your faculty, staff and students.
New training is available on the Tribal Consultation Policy in EDGE Learning.
Engaging with Native Nations in research or university initiatives carries legal, ethical, and relational responsibilities. The Tribal Consultation Policy Training equips University of Arizona faculty, staff, and students with the knowledge and tools needed to engage respectfully, responsibly, and in alignment with university and ABOR policies.
This 30-minute online training is required for senior personnel prior to initiating consultation, required for anyone conducting human subjects research, and is strongly recommended for anyone planning research or engagement involving Native Nations. You can access the training in EDGE Learning or by selecting this link: https://arizona.sabacloud.com/Saba/Web_spf/NA7P1PRD161/common/ledetail/0000036292.
Through short videos, real-world scenarios, and interactive decision tools, participants will learn:
* What tribal sovereignty means and why it matters in research and engagement
* When tribal consultation is required under U of A and ABOR policy
* Your role and responsibilities in the consultation process
* How respectful consultation helps build trust, maximize benefit, and reduce harm
This training goes beyond compliance. It supports researchers in doing work that is ethical, collaborative, and grounded in respect for the sovereignty and priorities of Native Nations.
Please send any questions to @Smith, Kelly Eitzen - (kellys)<mailto:kellys at arizona.edu>
Thank you
