I want to bring to your attention a small but important wording change to the new policy on recording in the classroom shared earlier - see attached.
The term "must" has been replaced with "should".  Please see the link in the email thread below.

Hi Senators, I'm asking that you reach out to all of your constituents about University syllabus policies.

A few weeks ago, the Provost's Office sent out new policies regarding recording in classrooms, which erroneously stated that students must ask permission to do so.  Arizona state law allows anyone (including students) to record; the UA cannot create a policy that impinges that right.  Recently, Dr. Greg Heileman (Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education) and Dr. Andrea Romero (Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs) updated the language to make sure it's clearly stated as a request. Since a faculty member could erroneously try to prevent recording (and because it is probably important for all faculty to be aware of the "One Party Consent" status in Arizona), I think it's important to disseminate this information broadly to any faculty or students in classrooms.
